Chasing Sunsets

It’s getting to be that time of year when I’m usually out and about around sunset time. The fall seems to always provide for some interesting cloud cover, which can make a great pic IMO. Last night was a GREAT show with a bright orange light shining on a HUGE cloud. Of course, the camera came out 10 minutes too late, and it was gone. I *did* manage to get a decent shot of the vette with what little light was left.

Silver Falls

We decided to make a quick trip to Silver Falls after work, and some unplanned traffic had us arriving at Silver Falls State Park at 7pm, exactly one hour before the park closed. A few side benefits of arriving late were complete lack of other people on the trail, as well as one heck of a sunset.

Ran out of the hotel room with 3-year old to catch the sunset and “see the waves”; but the some of the best scenery was caught on the way back.

Here are a few shots from our yearly group trip to the Oregon Coast. Somehow we got a break of sunshine in the middle of twenty-something straight days of rain. Nothing like cruising down the beach in Kendle’s Jeep with the top down.

Here’s another attempt at Mt. Hood (+) Coumbia River Marina (+) Sunset (-) shooting from a moving car. Besides having my polarizing filter, I’m not sure it’s really that much better :). It did require far less Photoshop finess though ..
Summer Storm

Right after an 80 degree day on the river, a mid-summer thunderstorm blew into town triggering messages on the Emergency Broadcasting System. The sky turned purple before buckets of rain and thunder / lightning hit.
